Basketball Recap: Wagon Mound Falls Despite Big Games from Josiah Vasquez and Eugene Armijo

Wagon Mound was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. The matchup between the Wagon Mound Trojans and the Des Moines Demons didn't end well, with the Wagon Mound Trojans falling 54-35. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-51 two weeks ago.

Wagon Mound's loss came despite strong showings from Eugene Armijo and Josiah Vasquez. Armijo posted 15 points, while Vasquez put up eight points.

Des Moines got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Destry Sumpter out in front who en route to 14 points and eight boards. Sumpter is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was David Cisneros, who earned seven points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Wagon Mound's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Des Moines, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.

Wagon Mound has already played their next contest, an 81-49 loss against Cimarron on the 18th. As for Des Moines, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-35 defeat against Roy/Mosquero on the 15th.
