Recap: Hughson Huskies vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets
The Hughson Huskies lost against the Hilmar Yellowjackets back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hughson and Hilmar were almost perfectly matched up, but Hughson suffered an agonizing 24-23 defeat. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hughson in their matchups with Hilmar: they've now lost eight in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Hughson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Robert Mcdaniel. Despite the final result, he threw for 248 yards and a touchdown.
Caden Bailey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hilmar, rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Bailey's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Logan Cardoso and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hilmar's victory.
Hughson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hilmar, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hughson will face off against Ripon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ripon is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Hilmar, they will head out on the road to face off against Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Modesto Christian is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
