Recap: Havana vs. Canton

The Canton Little Giants had a rough outing against Pekin on Saturday, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. Canton escaped with a win against the Havana Ducks by the margin of a single basket, 55-53. That was the first win for the Little Giants since their victory over Dunlap four weeks ago.

Canton's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 37 first-half points. Havana wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 37-18 heading into the break. Canton almost let the contest get away from them in the second half, but they had just enough oomph to take it.

Canton's win brought them up to 2-17. The loss dropped Havana's record to 12-10.

Canton will be hunkering down at home again for their game against Limestone Saturday. Limestone is also tiptoeing in after a close one, winning 70-68 over East Peoria. The Ducks will look to defend their home court on Friday against Abingdon/Avon. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close matchup.
