Softball Recap: West Springfield Turns Things Around After Road Loss

West Springfield's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to South County on Tuesday. The Spartans never let the Woodson Cavaliers get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Elaina Primozic was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Layla Muten, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Woodson, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Springfield will challenge Wakefield at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Woodson, they will face off against Fairfax at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
