Softball Recap: Greyhills Academy Knights vs. Round Valley Elks
Sadly, Greyhills Academy is still looking for their first win of the season after five matches. They suffered a rough 11-0 defeat at the hands of the Round Valley Elks on Monday. The matchup marked that first time this year in which Greyhills Academy was not able to get on the board.
For Round Valley's part, Cortnee Baca made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Baca was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Round Valley got a massive performance out of Liliana Arreola, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Taizly Newman was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
Greyhills Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Round Valley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Greyhills Academy will head out on the road to take on Many Farms at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Round Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Benson at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benson is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
