Basketball Game Preview: Scott County Cardinals vs. Frederick Douglass Broncos

Scott County is 1-9 against Frederick Douglass since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Scott County Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Frederick Douglass Broncos at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Scott County came up short against Henry Clay on Tuesday, falling 82-59. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Frederick Douglass came tearing into Wednesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 58-52 W over the Defenders.

Frederick Douglass' win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Scott County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Scott County was taken down by Frederick Douglass 95-67 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Scott County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
