Springville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: American Fork, who was ranked 14th at the time (Springville was ranked ninth). Springville fell just short of American Fork by a score of 3-2 on Friday.
Springville took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-23, 27-29, 25-15, 15-13.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Taylor Cook, who had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight games.
Meanwhile, Spanish Fork came into Thursday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Salem Hills 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dons have posted since May 18, 2024.
Spanish Fork was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 21-25, 26-28, 25-20, 15-13.
Spanish Fork's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Springville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Springville couldn't quite get it done against Spanish Fork when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can Springville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
