Softball Recap: Creek Wood Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Creek Wood had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Montgomery Central Indians a 12-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 1-0 victory last Wednesday.

Elizabeth Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jaycee Dillehay was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kendal Bryant was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Creek Wood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in 16 consecutive matchups.

Creek Wood pushed their record up to 26-12 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Montgomery Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
