Baseball Game Preview: Stoughton Black Knights vs. Attleboro Bombardiers

The Stoughton Black Knights will challenge the Attleboro Bombardiers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Stoughton has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Attleboro will arrive with five straight wins.

Stoughton came up short against Oliver Ames on Monday, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Attleboro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out North Attleborough 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bombardiers have posted against the Rocketeers since April 18, 2019.

Nick Daley looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michael Huntington, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Devin Fagan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Attleboro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Stoughton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Stoughton skirted past Attleboro 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Black Knights repeat their success, or do the Bombardiers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
