The Liberty Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the James Monroe Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Liberty beat Oak Hill 10-6. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.

Maddie Cox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Allie Bowles was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, James Monroe hadn't done well against Greenbrier East recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Mavericks walked away with a 12-9 victory over the Spartans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Liberty pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for James Monroe, their record is now 7-12.

Liberty couldn't quite finish off James Monroe in their previous matchup back in March and fell 4-2. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
