Basketball Game Preview: Sheyenne Mustangs vs. Red River Roughriders

The Sheyenne Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Red River Roughriders at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sheyenne's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.

Last Tuesday, Sheyenne ended up a good deal behind Moorhead and lost 76-61.

While Red River didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 81-69 win over Fargo North on Tuesday. That looming 81-69 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Roughriders yet this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Red River and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Sheyenne, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Sheyenne strolled past Red River in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 84-68. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sheyenne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
