Baseball Preview: Akron Tigers vs. Newfane Panthers        
        
		
            Akron is 8-2 against Newfane since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will host the Panthers  at 4:45  p.m. Akron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2  runs per game  this season.
Akron took a loss when they played away from home  on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Saturday. They blew past East Aurora 13-3. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous   game.

 Conlan Luck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   eight  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double. Those  two  hits gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Collin Miller and  Ryan Owen did most of the damage at the plate:  Miller  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and two  RBI, while  Owen  went 2-for-4 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double. Akron is undefeated when  Miller posts two or  more  stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Anthony Consiglio, who  went 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.
 Akron  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. They are  a perfect 3-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
 Meanwhile, Newfane was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight  defeat. They fell  5-1 to Royalton-Hartland. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
 Newfane's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Akron,  the  win  got them back to even at 6-6.
 Akron skirted past Newfane  4-3 when the teams last played  back in May of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success,  or do  the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
