Basketball Game Preview: Cheverus Stags vs. Windham Eagles

The Cheverus Stags will venture away from home to challenge the Windham Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Cheverus easily dispatched Oxford Hills on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Cheverus fell just short of Deering by a score of 65-62 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Windham unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Oxford Hills 70-65. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Vikings are ranked 53rd).

Cheverus' defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3. As for Windham, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-2.

Cheverus came up short against Windham in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 59-55. Can Cheverus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
