Basketball Game Preview: Chico Dragons vs. Perrin-Whitt Pirates

The Chico Dragons just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Perrin-Whitt Pirates at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Chico lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Forestburg, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Dragons took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 69-42 victory over the Longhorns. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.

Jordan Weiland had an outrageously good game as he shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double with 34 points and ten boards. The game was his 13th in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Perrin-Whitt's strategy against Forestburg on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pirates blew the Longhorns out of the water with a 67-30 final score. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won three in a row.

Perrin-Whitt's record now sits at 3-0. As for Chico, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Chico was taken down by Perrin-Whitt 69-26 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
