Preview: Ripley Tigers vs. Gibson County Pioneers
After two games on the road, Ripley is heading back home. They will take on the Gibson County Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ripley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Gibson County is ranked 23rd).
Ripley suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Peabody, falling 64-16. Ripley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-5.
Meanwhile, Gibson County stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Westview as Gibson County made off with a 63-39 win. The score was close at the half, but Gibson County pulled away in the second half with 37 points.
Ripley dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.6 points per game. As for Gibson County, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
