Basketball Game Preview: Grand County Red Devils vs. Kanab Cowboys

The Grand County Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Kanab Cowboys at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Grand County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.

Grand County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Gunnison Valley 87-84. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Kanab had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five last Friday. They strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 82-63.

Grand County better keep an eye on Kyle Brown. He was instrumental in Kanab's win, going 13-for-15 on his way to 29 points. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cash Mortensen, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Kanab's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Grand County, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.

Grand County and Kanab were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but Grand County came up empty-handed after a 59-58 defeat. Can Grand County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
