Basketball Recap: Powell Comes Up Short

Powell won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They came up short against the Oak Ridge Wildcats, falling 79-59. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 34th).

Powell now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Oak Ridge, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Powell Panthers challenge the Knoxville Central Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Oak Ridge has already played their next match (against Campbell County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
