Soccer Game Preview: Long vs. Northside Methodist Academy

Long hasn't had much luck against Northside Methodist Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rebels will square off against the Knights at 5:30 p.m. Northside Methodist Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Long, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Long beat Dale County 3-1.

Gracie Davis and Bea Anderson scored all three of the Rebels' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, Northside Methodist Academy came up short against Houston Academy on Tuesday, falling 7-3. While losing is never fun, Northside Methodist Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Houston Academy are ranked 33rd).

Northside Methodist Academy has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those five games. As for Long, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7-4.

Long suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Northside Methodist Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
