Softball Recap: Lakeside School Starts Season with Victory Against Coosa Valley Academy

Lakeside School took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They skirted past the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels 7-5. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Addison Phillips made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Helms, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Coosa Valley Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Lakeside School will head out to square off against Coosa Valley Academy at 2:00 p.m. on March 7th. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Evangel Christian at 10:15 a.m. on Friday. Coosa Valley Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
