Softball Game Preview: Waukegan Bulldogs vs. Wheeling Wildcats

The Waukegan Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Wheeling Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Waukegan has given up an average of 18.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Waukegan is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost 17-2 to Mundelein.

Wheeling came out on top against Rolling Meadows on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Wildcats walked away with a 7-2 win over the Mustangs.

Ava Shrake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Alaina Costello was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Katie Moser was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Wheeling hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Waukegan's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Wheeling, their record is now 8-15.

Waukegan suffered a grim 23-3 defeat to Wheeling in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
