Softball Recap: Alta Loma Takes Down El Rancho in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alta Loma had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the El Rancho Dons 13-1. The win was familiar territory for the Braves, who have now won three matches in a row.

Donica Meyndert tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Ava Salazar was incredible, firing off two home runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Galindo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Alta Loma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Alta Loma pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for El Rancho, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10-1.

Looking ahead, Alta Loma will challenge St. Paul at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. El Rancho does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
