Baseball Recap: Hamden Hall Country Day Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Hamden Hall Country Day ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Luke's Storm, sneaking past 7-6. Seven seems to be a good number for the Hornets as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Amato Civitello made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hamden Hall Country Day is 7-2 when Civitello allows two or fewer hits, but 8-10 otherwise. Civitello was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Logan Charboneau was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jey Scanlon, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Hamden Hall Country Day and bumps their season record up to 15-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for St. Luke's, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.

As of now, neither Hamden Hall Country Day nor the Storm have any future games scheduled.
