Baseball Recap: Elkins Tigers vs. Preston Knights

After flying high against Pendleton County on Friday, Elkins came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the Preston Knights by a score of 4-2 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 25th.

Caleb McCauley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Elkins saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dyer Barger, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Elkins' loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Preston, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
