Basketball Recap: San Tan Foothills Comes Up Short

San Tan Foothills saw some tournament action on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 38-23 to the Highland Prep Honey Badgers. The Sabercats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Highland Prep was led to victory by Madison Lawrence and Kendra Ibeh. Lawrence dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and ten steals, while Ibeh posted eight points along with 13 boards and five blocks. Lawrence is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Deba Uyi-Ajayi was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

San Tan Foothills' loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Highland Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

San Tan Foothills will welcome Payson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Payson's defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so San Tan Foothills' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Highland Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 37-28 victory against Dishchii'bikoh on the 4th.
