Basketball Game Preview: McKinney Boyd Broncos vs. Plano East Panthers

McKinney Boyd is 2-8 against Plano East since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McKinney Boyd Broncos will head out on the road to take on the Plano East Panthers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in McKinney Boyd's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

McKinney Boyd took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 71-64 win over Prosper. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Broncos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Eagles are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, Plano East had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 74-54 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Plano East's victory was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for McKinney Boyd, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-13.

McKinney Boyd might still be hurting after the 77-52 defeat they got from Plano East when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can McKinney Boyd avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
