Softball Recap: Essex Triumphs

Essex proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Lancaster Red Devils 13-12. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Makiryn Williams was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Octavia Floyd also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Essex was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .462 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Essex's win bumped their record up to 7-9-1. As for Lancaster, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Essex beat Lancaster by a score of 13-12 later that day.
