Basketball Recap: St. Johns Country Day Spartans vs. River City Science Academy Rockets
St. Johns Country Day gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 69-20 victory over the River City Science Academy Rockets. With the Spartans ahead 40-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
St. Johns Country Day found their leader in freshman Camden Cooper, who went 8 for 19 en route to 20 points plus eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Graham, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 12 points plus two steals.
River City Science Academy dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
St. Johns Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for River City Science Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Covenant School of Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m.
