Baseball Game Preview: St. Bede Bruins vs. Newark Norsemen

The St. Bede Bruins will square off against the Newark Norsemen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Bede will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

If St. Bede beats Newark with one run on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Bruins didn't even let Tri-Valley on the board on Friday, marking the Bruins' second-straight 1-0 shutout.

Not much got past Ranbir Saini, who gave up just four hits to keep Tri-Valley off the board. Saini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Bede saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Mullane, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Newark didn't have quite enough to beat Plano on Friday and fell 5-4. The Norsemen have struggled against the Reapers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for St. Bede, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.

Everything went St. Bede's way against Newark in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as St. Bede made off with an 18-1 victory. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Norsemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
