Basketball Recap: Great Hearts Monte Vista vs. Sunnybrook Christian Lions

Great Hearts Monte Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sunnybrook Christian Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Sunnybrook Christian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-44 two weeks ago.

Great Hearts Monte Vista's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Kyle, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Hayes Williams, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Gabe Minica was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 30 points and 20 rebounds for Sunnybrook Christian. That's the most boards Minica has posted since back in February of 2024. Jay Williams was another key player, putting up eight points along with ten steals and six assists.

Great Hearts Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Great Hearts Monte Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sunnybrook Christian, they will take on Southwest Prep Northwest at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
