Football Recap: Texhoma/Goodwell Takes a Loss

If Texhoma/Goodwell was riding high fresh off their 34-8 takedown of Merritt back in August, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Texhoma/Goodwell took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spearman Lynx on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Texhoma/Goodwell came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 174th in Oklahoma, while Spearman is ranked 795th in Texas).

Jailen Vasquez produced another solid effort rushing for 145 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 57 yards and two touchdowns for Spearman. With that strong performance, Vasquez is now averaging an impressive 100.2 rushing yards per game.

Texhoma/Goodwell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Spearman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Texhoma/Goodwell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 34-7 victory against Southwest Covenant on the 26th. As for Spearman, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-14 win against Shamrock on the 26th.
