Volleyball Recap: Amplus Academy Comes Up Short

Amplus Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Chaparral Cowboys, falling 3-0. The Archers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cowboys apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Amplus Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.

Benjamin Hulet paced Amplus Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Hulet got some help from Gideon Schelin and his 23 assists.

Chaparral had a senior duo take command as Adrian Ocampo had 15 kills, eight digs, two aces, and one block and Jordan Pierce had 16 kills, six digs, and three aces. Pierce has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 44 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaeya Tili, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Amplus Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Chaparral, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Amplus Academy has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Del Sol on the 4th. As for Chaparral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Clark on the 4th.
