Baseball Recap: Prairie Central Takes a Loss

Prairie Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Prairie Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Friedman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The Hawks are 2-1 when Friedman posts two or more runs, but 3-21 otherwise.

Prairie Central's loss dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Maroa-Forsyth, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-7.

Coming up, Prairie Central will face off against Mahomet-Seymour at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they will take on Arthur-Okaw Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
