Softball Recap: Midland Valley Has No Trouble Against Brookland-Cayce

Midland Valley got themselves on the board against Brookland-Cayce on Monday, but Brookland-Cayce never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats as they made off with a 16-0 win. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Macee McCollum and Bailey Seabolt did most of the damage at the plate: McCollum scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Seabolt scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave McCollum a new career-high in doubles (two). Macey Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Midland Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Midland Valley and bumps their season record up to 5-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 14.5 hits in those games compared to only 4.8 in the others. As for Brookland-Cayce, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Midland Valley will challenge Airport at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brookland-Cayce, they will take on North Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
