Football Recap: Community School of Davidson Spartans vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forest Hills, Community School of Davidson was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed by the Bishop McGuinness Villains at home to the tune of 42-7. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their seven-point performance the contest before.
Community School of Davidson can attribute much of their success to Jake Johnson, who threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Wyatt Baker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Community School of Davidson's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Micah Mccoy and Baker.
Bishop McGuinness' loss came despite strong showings from Aiden Martin and Alex Waterfield. Martin picked up 124 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Waterfield threw for 271 yards and a touchdown. Martin showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 63 yards.
The win got Community School of Davidson back to even at 2-2. As for Bishop McGuinness, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Carver the next time they take the field. Bishop McGuinness will host Carver at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Community School of Davidson will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 4th.
