Baseball Recap: Salpointe Catholic Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Salpointe Catholic barely beat Notre Dame Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers blew past the Saints 14-8 on Saturday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Christopher Gutierrez looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aciel Guillen, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March. Adan Koch Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Salpointe Catholic pushed their record up to 17-0-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 7.9 runs thus far. As for Notre Dame Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-13 record.

Looking ahead, Salpointe Catholic will take on Faith Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Notre Dame Prep, they will face off against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Coyotes will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight.
