Football Preview: Redlands Terriers vs. Chaffey Tigers
After starting their season with two straight games on the road, Redlands is finally coming home. They will look to take advantage of their home-field as they take on the Chaffey Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Redlands will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points back in August, then bounced right back against Citrus Hill last Friday. Redlands breezed by Citrus Hill on the road to the tune of 34-6. With the Terriers ahead 27-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Theodore (Teddy) McGee had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Fraire, who threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Redlands wouldn't let Citrus Hill keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Alvaro Mota was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. His also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing two fumbles and making five total tackles. Redlands got some further help from Isaiah Rangel: he made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss) which he returned for a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Redlands was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 445 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since was before the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Chaffey is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Fillmore on Friday, but Fillmore came as close as anyone has to beating them. Chaffey came out on top in a nail-biter against Fillmore , sneaking past 22-20. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
