Isle of Wight Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Southampton Academy Raiders by a score of 39-31 on Friday. For the Chargers, this counts as revenge for the 38-23 victory the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Isle of Wight Academy found their leader in freshman Kirbie Edwsrds, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sarah Powers, who posted seven points and six steals.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Isle of Wight Academy will square off against Covenant Classical Community at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southampton Academy, they will take on Northeast Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
