Baseball Recap: Morgan Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Caldwell, Morgan was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They skirted past the Waterford Wildcats 7-5. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brylee Shannon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaron Baker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Witten Schaad was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win got Morgan back to even at 1-1. As for Waterford, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan will venture away from home to face off against Marietta at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waterford, they will head out to square off against Alexander at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
