Softball Game Preview: North Adams Green Devils vs. Southeastern Panthers

The North Adams Green Devils will square off against the Southeastern Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (North Adams 2.8, Southeastern 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

North Adams is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Adena just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Green Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chloe Armstrong made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Lynchburg-Clay hit Southeastern with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 15th.

Gracie Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Dylan Skaggs was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Southeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for North Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 22-5.

Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Adams hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Southeastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

North Adams might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Southeastern when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can the Green Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
