Basketball Recap: Caddo Mills Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Hawkins

Caddo Mills's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hawkins Hawks by a score of 52-44. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Foxes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1087th, while the Hawks are ranked 293rd).

Despite the loss, Hawkins still got an impressive performance from Derek Hollman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Hollman is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Eli Smith was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Caddo Mills' win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Hawkins, they moved to 11-1 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Caddo Mills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-57 defeat against Commerce on the 13th. As for Hawkins, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-42 victory against Mildred on the 13th.
