Basketball Recap: Indianapolis Crispus Attucks Comes Up Short

After flying high against Christel House last Saturday, Indianapolis Crispus Attucks came back down to earth. The Indianapolis Crispus Attucks Tigers fell 71-63 to the Cathedral Fighting Irish on Monday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Indianapolis Crispus Attucks lost, don't look at Chris Hurt. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 9 en route to 21 points and six assists. Hurt is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Dezmon Briscoe was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Indianapolis Crispus Attucks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Brady Koehler, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for Cathedral. Those 11 boards gave Koehler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keaton Aldridge, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Indianapolis Crispus Attucks' loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Cathedral, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Crispus Attucks will host Indianapolis Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Indianapolis Crispus Attucks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68 points per game this season. As for Cathedral, they will be playing at home against Winton Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
