Basketball Recap: Hoover Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hoover had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 68-62 W against the Winfield Generals. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Huskies also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoover to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dane Hatfield, who posted 35 points. The game was Hatfield's 12th in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Donovan Brown, who scored 23 points.

Hoover pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Winfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hoover beat Winfield by a score of 58-51 on Saturday.
