Basketball Recap: San Diego Beats Scripps Ranch for Their Third Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but San Diego had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They snuck past the Scripps Ranch Falcons with a 52-48 victory. Given the Cavers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Falcons are ranked 482nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Diego to victory, but perhaps none more so than Treyshawn Degrate, who went 6-for-12 en route to 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Degrate a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Chianu Masters, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 12 points and five boards.

The win (which was San Diego's third in a row) raised their record to 24-5. As for Scripps Ranch, they dropped their record down to 8-20 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Coming up, San Diego will be playing in front of their home fans against Sage Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sage Creek has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 195 points over their last three matchups. Scripps Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
