Basketball Game Preview: Johnston Dragons vs. Jefferson Yellowjackets

The Johnston Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Jefferson Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Johnston is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Valley, posting a 78-51 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Dragons have posted since February 10, 2024.

Meanwhile, Jefferson played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-42 defeat at the hands of Le Mars. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.

Jefferson dropped their record down to 3-17 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Johnston, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Everything came up roses for Johnston against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, as the squad secured a 78-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Johnston since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
