League recap: Esposito throws longest pass in league this season for Bishop Ford

James Esposito and Rodney Gonzales provided fans with a highlight when they connected against St. Joseph-by-the-Sea. The connection was good for 84 yards, the longest such play in Catholic this season.

Xavier was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 16th to 14th in the league. The Knights beat Kellenberg Memorial 36-33 earlier in the week.

Bishop Ford's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Esposito threw for 301 and 5 touchdowns and Justice Seales had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Dante Aiken contributed 110 yards. Quamari McAllister helped Bishop Ford's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 105 yards.

He was 10-10 with 0 interceptions.

Aiken was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 8 carries, he ran for 110 yards as the Falcons topped the Vikings. Gonzales also contributed to the rushing game with 42 yards on the ground.

Bishop Ford's Esposito and Gonzales led Catholic in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Esposito has thrown for 1,932 yards this season, while Gonzales has 47 catches for 878 yards. Jordan Gowins from St. Anthony's leads the league in rushing with 1,718 yards.

The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Friars and Chaminade. St. Anthony's comes into the matchup ranked fourth in the state, while the Flyers ranks 11th.

St. John the Baptist scaled the state rankings by moving to 150 from 229 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars were able to move up by topping Xaverian 51-14.
