Baseball Recap: Deer Valley Takes a Loss

The Deer Valley Skyhawks didn't have quite enough to beat the Lakewood Tigers on Friday and fell 6-4.

Nate Gentz and Hunter Metz did some serious damage despite the final result: Gentz went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Metz went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Metz a new career-high. Bryan Burnett was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Deer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1. As for Lakewood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Coming up, Deer Valley will face off against Westview at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give Deer Valley their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lakewood, they will square off against Cherry Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood is facing Cherry Creek at the right time seeing as Cherry Creek is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
