Baseball Recap: Buena Has No Trouble Against Atlantic County Institute of Tech

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Buena ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Atlantic County Institute of Tech as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with Atlantic County Institute of Tech: they've now won six in a row.

Dylan O'Connell was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Buena's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). O'Connell was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jaevon Alexander was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jalexis Agosto-Sanchez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Buena now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Atlantic County Institute of Tech, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buena will head out to face off against St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Atlantic County Institute of Tech, they will venture away from home to challenge Oakcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
