Basketball Game Preview: Lumberton Pirates vs. Hoggard Vikings

The Lumberton Pirates will square off against the Hoggard Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lumberton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 66-58 victory over Hillside.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hoggard, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They strolled past Willow Spring with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 58-42. The Vikings pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Storm cut but never quite recovered from.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points over those games. As for Hoggard, their victory bumped their record up to 22-5.

Lumberton beat Hoggard 56-49 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Lumberton repeat their success, or does Hoggard have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
