Basketball Game Preview: Navajo Pine Warriors vs. Rehoboth Christian Lynx

Navajo Pine is 0-10 against Rehoboth Christian since February of 2020 but things could change on Saturday. The Navajo Pine Warriors will face off against the Rehoboth Christian Lynx at 11:00 a.m. Navajo Pine has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

On Thursday, Navajo Pine lost to Laguna Acoma on the road by a 71-55 margin. The Warriors were down 58-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Navajo Pine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anthony Sandoval went 6-for-14 en route to 18 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. Those 18 points gave Sandoval a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chad Tsosie, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Navajo Pine was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Rehoboth Christian had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They really took it to the Hawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-29 win. The Lynx have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Rehoboth Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points over those games. As for Navajo Pine, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-19.

Navajo Pine was dealt a bruising 63-21 loss at the hands of Rehoboth Christian in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Navajo Pine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
