Basketball Recap: Mayer Lutheran Takes a Loss

Mayer Lutheran lost against B O L D back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mayer Lutheran Crusaders received a blow as they fell 73-58 to the B O L D Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Warriors are ranked 124th).

B O L D's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Gross led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. Gross' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Will Penkert, who posted 19 points and five rebounds.

Mayer Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for B O L D, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayer Lutheran will venture away from home to face off against Lester Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for B O L D, they will head out to square off against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in B O L D's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
